Paddling

You can do paddle tours on the Danube River, starting right here in Thiergarten. Various companies rent kayaks and Canadian canoes. What a perspective from the water, view all sorts of species from the plant (Lotus, Irises, etc..) and animal kingdoms (herons, various breeds of ducks, musk rats, beavers, kingfishers, trout and graylings).

Please note that even for an excursion in a private boat you require a river licence.

Swimming

Have you ever gone swimming in a river? Float down the river, or try to swim against the current. An experience not to be missed!

Fishing

Approximately 2 kms of fishable river awaits you, (Note: You must have a current annual fishing permit - Permits are available here at the farm stay).  The upper river is very popular with the Fly fishermen.

Note that in areas 2,3 and 4 you are only allowed to fish on the right hand side of the river (the side where our farm is).

The local council impose the following rules:

• Use only hand lines.
• You must follow the State fishing rules of Baden-Wuerttemberg.
• In areas 1+3 you are only allowed to use artificial flies and you must use fly fishing rods.
• Streamer and double hooks are not allowed in areas 1+3.
• In areas 2+4 you are allowed to fish for eel at night using 2 hand lines during the European summer time from 9pm to 1am.

In addition we issue permits for the Thiergarten Fishing Club, which has access to a fishing area on the other side of Thiergarten
